House Select Committee on China Members

24 of its 24 members are on the November 3, 2026 ballot — every House seat is up every two years. Every House seat is contested every two years, so the entire committee faces voters in 2026 — and if the majority changes hands, every chairmanship changes with it.

The House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party is a select committee of the House of Representatives. It is chaired by John Moolenaar (R-MI), with Ro Khanna (D-CA) as ranking member. Like every congressional committee, it does the detailed work the full chamber cannot: holding hearings, marking up bills in its jurisdiction before they reach the floor, and overseeing the executive-branch agencies it covers. A bill that never gets a hearing here never gets a vote — which is why the chair's control of the calendar is the committee's most consequential power.

The majority party holds the chair and a majority of seats on every committee, in rough proportion to its margin in the chamber, so the 13–11 split above follows directly from the current party breakdown. Seniority within each party — the rank column — determines who moves up when a seat opens, and the most senior minority member becomes chair if control of the chamber flips.
